Electrical Safety Tips & Guides

Top Electrical Safety Do’s and Dont’s

Electricity is powerful — and while it makes modern life possible, it can also be dangerous if not respected. Following safe practices around electricity protects not only your property but your family as well.

✅ Do’s:

  • Unplug unused appliances to reduce the risk of electrical fires and save energy.
  • Use appliances according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Install safety switches (RCDs) in your home for added protection against shocks and short circuits.

❌ Don’t:

  • Overload power boards or use multiple high-energy devices on a single outlet.
  • Run cords under carpets or rugs where they can overheat or fray unnoticed.
  • Attempt DIY electrical repairs — always call a qualified electrician.

If you notice sparks, flickering lights, or a burning smell from any outlet, turn off the power at the switchboard immediately and call Edgecliff Electrical Services. Safety should never be a second thought.
